Iberdrola has acquired Previ’s 30.29% stake in Neoenergia, bringing its ownership to around 84% of the company’s share capital. Neoenergia supplies electricity to nearly 40 million people in Brazil through five distribution companies across Bahia, Rio Grande do Norte, Pernambuco, Sao Paulo, Mato Grosso do Sul and Brasilia.
The company operates more than 725,000 kilometres of distribution lines, 8,000 kilometres of transmission lines and has 3,800 MW of renewable generation capacity, mainly hydroelectric. The agreed price of 32.5 reais per share, set on 10 September 2025, totals more than €1.92 billion. The deal has received the required regulatory approvals.
