Dublin Offshore receives DNV prototype certificate for floating wind load reduction deviceDublin Offshore has obtained a prototype certificate from DNV for its load reduction device, a mooring line component developed for floating wind applications. The certificate follows completion of the prototype certification process in accordance with DNV SE 0422 for floating wind turbines and the technical requirements set out in DNV ST 0119.

The load reduction device is designed to introduce a non-linear response within the mooring system through a combination of weight or ballast and buoyancy. Its purpose is to reduce mooring loads under defined operating conditions, a key factor in floating wind projects where mooring design can have a significant impact on levelised cost of energy.

The prototype certification included verification of structural strength, endurance and stiffness characteristics.
