Enercon is expanding its product range with a green steel option for all tower models that include steel components. This development is based on partnerships with steel producers using lower-emission processes and a higher proportion of recycled steel.
The first Enercon wind turbine with a lower-emission hybrid steel tower has been installed at the Diepholzer Bruch wind farm in Germany. The steel for this tower was supplied by Ilsenburger Grobblech, part of Salzgitter, which reduced carbon dioxide emissions by more than 70 percent during production through the use of recycled materials, electric arc furnaces and renewable electricity.
