Apex Clean Energy has announced the commercial operation of four utility-scale wind and storage projects across Illinois, Maine and Texas, adding more than 625 MW to its portfolio. This brings Apex’s total operating and construction capacity to over 3 GW.

In Piatt County, Illinois, the 300 MW Prosperity Wind farm is Apex’s fifth in the state. It is expected to generate around $93 million in tax revenue for the local area, including $58 million for nearby school districts. The project also supports rewilding and restoration efforts in Rockford and along the Illinois River with a $200,000 contribution.

Downeast Wind in Washington County, Maine, is Apex’s first project in the ISO New England market. This 126 MW facility is expected to bring nearly $20 million in new revenue to the county and the town of Columbia. It has also stimulated $156 million in economic activity statewide and committed $126,000 towards Atlantic salmon habitat restoration.

In Hidalgo County, Texas, Great Kiskadee Storage (100 MW/200 MWh) is the first asset from SA Grid Solutions, a joint venture between Apex, SK Gas and SK Eternix. The facility aims to improve Texas grid reliability and is projected to generate over $23 million in tax revenue, alongside a $100,000 commitment to conserve 200 acres of wetland habitat.

Angelo Storage in Tom Green County, Texas, is Apex’s third operational storage site and latest wholly owned grid asset. With 100 MW/200 MWh capacity, it supports ERCOT grid resilience by balancing renewable energy supply and demand. It is expected to generate more than $13.6 million in local tax revenue over its lifetime.
