Ethiopia’s first ever Wind Power Plant has been constructed in Ashegoda, near Mekelle, the capital of Tigray. This plant with an installed capacity of 120MW is planned to be functional by 2013 February with the completion of the first phase by June 2011 with a capacity of 30MW.

Iberdrola Renewables has chosen PC VUE SCADA system to monitor it´s US wind farms. In its National Control Center, system analysts oversee every turbine at every wind farm throughout the US. Iberdrola Renewables uses multiple turbine types and each turbine supplier provides their own control/HMI system.

Vestas has received a firm and unconditional order for 50 V100-1.8 MW wind turbines for the USA from John Deere for the 90MW Michigan Wind II wind farm in Minden City, Michigan, USA.

One year ago the last of the twelve turbines of alpha ventus was assembled, completing Germany's first offshore wind farm. Since the gradual commissioning of the turbines, the offshore test field has fed some 170 gigawatt hours of power into the national power grid and has already achieved an balanced EROEI (Energy Return on Energy Invested).

Nordex has now sold three turnkey wind farms in France developed by the company itself, with a total capacity of 37.5MW. The wind farms were set up in 2009 and consist of machines from the 2.5MW product family. The customers signed Premium service agreements with a term of ten to twelve years.
