BayWa r.e. has been selected by Stora Enso to co-develop over 1.2 GW of onshore wind capacity on Stora Enso-owned land in Sweden. The projects, located in central and northern parts of the country, are expected to include at least 158 turbines.
BayWa r.e. Nordic will lead development and implementation. The partnership may later be extended to cover solar power and battery energy storage systems. The identified areas follow initial internal assessments by BayWa r.e. and remain in early planning. Next steps include forming project teams, conducting feasibility assessments, and carrying out environmental and cultural heritage studies. Engagement with local authorities and communities will begin ahead of formal consultation. The permitting process is expected to take up to five years.
